HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE
HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE
Supporting our congregation
Parish Ministries has a new name…
We are now the HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE!
Below are the activities for which we are responsible:
At the New Year in January…
Congregational Dinner: The New Year signals the time for the congregation to meet, review events of the past year, and elect new Consistory members and congregational delegates. The meeting precedes a traditional pork-and-sauerkraut dinner. Here we recognize our 50-year members. A bevy of helpers, plus donations of sumptuous desserts, are welcomed for this delightful event.
Spring…
Maundy Thursday: The Worship and Hospitality Committees plan and prepare a light meal and devotional time leading up to Good Friday and
Easter Sunday.
Easter Egg Hunt: On the Saturday before Easter, St. Paul’s hosts an Easter Egg Hunt for the children and friends of our parish —toddlers through age 12. The Youth Group and Council for Christian Education coordinate the hunt, which includes filling and hiding the eggs! Hospitality Committee provides light refreshments for this fun event.
Easter Breakfast: The entire congregation is invited to bring a breakfast item to share as we gather for a delicious meal and delightful fellowship prior to our 10:30 Easter Sunday worship service.
New Member/Graduate Tea: Usually the last Sunday prior to our summer worship schedule, we host a special fellowship to honor high school and college graduates as well as folks who have joined our church in the last year.
Summer…
Ice Cream Social: On Blessing of the Backpacks Sunday we celebrate the start of the school year with ICE CREAM and all the fixins’ in Fellowship Hall following the worship service. A great way to kick things off!
Homecoming: On our first Sunday back after Labor Day, we celebrate with an all-church picnic or a special fellowship time after the 10:30 worship service.
Autumn…
Harvest Dinner: A covered dish/desserts gathering for all members in November. Roast turkey and vegetables are provided. This coincides with the annual stewardship silent auction. Great fun!
In addition to the above activities, the Hospitality Committee and the Called to Care team provide funeral luncheons for church members, if requested.
We also operate a coffee cart in the Common every Sunday before Sunday School, providing light refreshments and a variety of hot drinks.
At least once a year the committee members deep clean our church kitchen, and make sure we have adequate supplies to support our fellowship activities.
